This modification is a map pack given a wrapper (menu). But maps are all you need for a portal puzzle game. I highly recommend this ‘Mod’ to anyone looking for a challenge.
Gameplay: Portal: The Flash Version tries hard to kill you, that’s its thing. Other mods punish you with death after you fail a jump or go into a turret filled room unprepared, while The Flash Version rewards you with life IF you find a way to avoid death. There are turrets, kill plates, death fields, force fields you can fire through but not move through and more kill plates.
The maps play extremely clean. I didn’t encounter any bugs or gimmicky chambers. You just have to figure out the chambers puzzles and escape in one piece.
Story: Canned responses, no attempt at creating a story. You start out with the fully functional portal gun. There is a companion cube segment worth mentioning and the last few maps are as you escape the facility.
Difficulty: These maps are fun, challenging and hard. But they are very doable. Don’t give up if you die, that’s normal! My only complaint is too many of the maps are ‘on a rail.’
Advanced chambers?: There are no advanced chambers [sadface]. But there is an epic chase scenario at the end which doubles as a boss battle!
